8. We certainly are.

In his book, Thinking Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman discusses how we become aware of things without realizing it. We may see a particular person or vehicle out of place and not give it a thought. But our minds are always active, sifting and sorting, and figuring things out. In one section he talks about how it works in real life, using a game of chance. One option pays less money more frequently, compared to another that pays larger sums less frequently. Most people figure it out and choose the better option quickly, before consciously figuring it out.
In short, we are on the list, and they are watching us. Rule one - don't give up the fight. Rule two - don't do anything foolish.
