U.S. Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska said in a call with reporters Monday that the demands Russia has presented to Ukraine to end their war are unacceptable and that its time for President Donald Trump to treat Russia as an imperialistic aggressor and see that Ukraine is the victim that has been invaded.
He applauded the president for trying to get the two sides together, but also said hes prepared to push a bill to sanction Russia if he feels the president is pushing Ukraine into a bad deal.
Theres a right and wrong, and we are the leader of the free world, and we should stand by the nation that wants freedom, wants free markets, wants rule of law. And clearly, Russia does not, Bacon said.
Bacon, a retired Air Force brigadier general, said not much came of Trumps meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin Friday in Alaska, but hed rather see no deal than a bad deal.

Rep. Don Bacon said in a call with reporters Monday that President Donald Trump's treatment of Russian President Vladimir Putin has been problematic throughout his administration.
