5. Navigating The Strait

There once was a tanker at sea,
Near a strait where the mines might well be.
Trump said, “Sail right through!
Show some backbone, you crew!”
While the captains said, “Easy for thee.”

A commander from Tehran declared,
“Any ship that goes through must be cleared.
Ask permission, we say—
Or you might rue the day.”
While the tankers all quietly steered.

Three ships took mysterious hits,
From projectiles or maritime wits.
“Who did that?” people cried,
As the rumors replied:
“Maybe mines… or some strategic fits.”

Trump thundered online with a roar,
“Clear those mines from that strait evermore!
If they’re there—though who knows—
There’ll be trouble, God knows,
Like the world has not witnessed before!”

Sixteen minelayers soon met their fate,
Blown apart near the narrow sea gate.
While the sailors looked grim,
And the odds looked quite slim,
That the strait would stay calm at that rate.

One commander with notable flair
Said a freighter ignored his beware:
“They were warned not to pass—
Now they’re caught, alas!”
And he posted the proof everywhere.

So the captains were stuck in the middle,
Of a geopolitical riddle:
One side said, “Go ahead!”
One said, “Stop—or you’re dead!”
Making navigation slightly non-trivial.
