there was probably someone in the gubmint that considered it at one time, like during the Biden Admin. maybe those considerations still exist even if that employee got DOGEd off the payroll?

occupying the island is probably lower risk than most would think - Iran won't want to damage the petroleum or LNG facilities. any ships supporting an occupation would be targets though.
