Questions about Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are coming to light after sources revealed he has been mostly “checked out” from his role at the Department of Health and Human Services, a new report reveals.

In an exposé published by The New York Times over the weekend, sources close to Kennedy reveal that the leader of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement has been mostly absent from his leadership role at the Health and Human Services Department. According to the article, Kennedy not only rarely visits the Washington headquarters but also barely communicates with the various agencies within the department, leaving many teams without clear leadership or structure.

When he does present himself, however, he is only at work for six hours, most of which he spends scrolling through his phone or being “checked out” in meetings, not interacting with staff.

In one instance, Kennedy was asked by ABC News about his department’s handling of the ongoing Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed at least one American has contracted the virus in the African nation. Kennedy has provided few comments about the outbreaks, and in that appearance, he told journalists, “We’re working on it.” However, staffers say he has received few briefings on the virus, especially as the number of cases has rapidly increased.
