20. Plavix + Aspirin can be a drag.

This was after my heart attack at 37 (!) -- The recommended treatment after was a 325 + Plavix. There were studies that showed much better outcomes after two years. But if I would just ,say, scratch my arm without thinking, five minutes later you would see a trickle of blood. Not a lot, but still. I dubbed myself "Mr. Bleedy".

After two years I asked my cardiologist about maybe stopping the Plavix, and he (in typical cardiologist fashion) said that if I was tolerating it then I really should keep taking it. This was after I pointed out that there weren't any studies past two years for efficacy.

I mentioned that it made me bleed, and he said "oh, in that case, you can stop". Covering his ass so that if I stop taking it on his advice and something happened he wouldn't get blamed.

It's been 20 years since my MI, and 10 years since my 5xCABG surgery (planned, not emergency). I'm still ticking along.
