(46,397 posts)30. Not a lawyer? Carroll didn't just have to "ask" -- she had to file a motion.
And under the rules of the court, Trump gets an opportunity to respond to that motion and then the court decides. I have no reason to think that the court won't grant the motion, but it has to follow the steps.

As part of his appeal Trump entered into an agreement with the court the funds would be disbursed directly to Carroll

That is not what the agreement provided. It set up a procedure for the release of the money - it is not "automatic."

Wrong. The judge simply said that the deadline for Trump to file an opposition to Carroll's motion is July 7.
