19. I've been near the National Mall during a severe storm

I was at the Nat'l Air & Space Museum during a storm that was so scary we thought a tornado was possible. We actually saw lightning strike the ground one time. We couldn't see the Washington Monument through the trees, but it sure looked like lightning could have struck it.

I would imagine the ferris wheel at the Nazi State Fair would make an available lighning attractor.

The Park Service doesn't evcuate the mall during storms ordinarily. This evacuation must have been due to the throngs of captive attendees at the fair.
