I wasn't even alive then, but I know it's such a cultural touchstone that it amazes me that it was so short-lived. Wasn't this around the same time Soap was on the air and people thought it was absolutely scandalous that Billy Crystal played a gay character?

I might be wrong, but I think it had a spin off with Fred Willard....
