I'd just come inside, pulled out of my barn boots,
ready to slip into my old, trusty Crocs.
Except KC had other thoughts.
"Hmm, what have we here?"
"I must investigate."
"I must put in my mouth."
"I must pull, as hard as I can."
"I have to play with this."
(Please note shoelace tied around heel strap.)
"I need to chew on this thing."
Up to now I'd tolerated this behavior.
Now I needed to intervene.
I took back my shoe, though he wasn't through.
While KC's away sulking, I'll go on
to explain: My old trusty Crocs kept
coming off, leaving my feet behind.
In my mind a word lit up my face —
that word? Shoelace.
$1.17 at the grocery.
Attached to heel strap, a shoelace
wrapped around legs and tied
keeps feet in place.

Hissy fit Kitty? Nah he just stalked away..
To look for trouble another day.
