I spent hours on my ballot going through it--including the ballot measures and the judicial retentions.

I know some states don't produce anything like that which leaves me appalled. Then, again some states don't apparently care to provide their populace with the background necessary to make a fair, yet informed decision (pointing especially at some Southern states, but they are not the only ones... )
