3. He's my pick-for her first term only. His demo would strengthen the ticket.

Sad to say but realistic. Statistically even some Dems have trouble choosing a woman candidate.

The idea occurred to me as soon as I realized he was her very first endorsement. -Left me wondering if they'd gamed it all out this far. The idea of him ping-ponging with Trump while taking the heat off of her? Yum. And he's beloved by colleagues and constituents alike.

She could choose someone younger and with more diverse appeal -Castro or Becerra, for instance- once she establishes her presidential creds. Him being my pick is based on that eventuality.

Still, I'm happy with whoever she picks. I think she knows what she's doing!
