Objectification is not always sexual in nature.

Soldiers are reduced to being tools of warfare, with no individual identity, and being pure cannon fodder. They are numbers on a page. Statistics. Not people.

I am not a veteran but come from a long line of those who served. It is only by the grace of providence that I am even here today to type this response (as all my ancestors came through the wars mostly unharmed). I recognize this nearly every day and am amazed that I am here, and so sad when I think about all the people who aren't here because the man standing next to my great great grandpa died in the Wheatfield at Gettysburg, or the man who went through basic training with my Grandpa got blown up in the South Pacific in WWII.

I see this as equally awful, and in some ways worse, than sexual objectification of females.*

I also think it is wholly wrong that we almost exclusively only do this to men.

It hurts my heart.

*I am a female bodied person, and have experienced that kind of objectification first hand and also dislike that immensely.
