6. I don't remember the details, this was back in April. I looked in a couple of places for raw notes (I have yet to fully

process my notes from back in April, something that should have been done ASAP back then when my memory was fresh, still plan on doing it soon (and also to file for property tax refunds before the August deadline).

I have a note from 2024 on some EFTPS crib sheet that said EFTPS took me to Login.gov and I guess one has to use Login.gov or ID.Me or some other such now to get into EFTPS.

Anyway, I don't have any notes about any issues with login.gov.

But now I have an email from Login.gov:

You connected your account to U.S. Department of the Treasury

To disconnect your account from U.S. Department of the Treasury, sign in to your account, go to “Your connected accounts” in the sidebar and click “Disconnect” underneath the service.

If this wasn’t you, reset your password and change your authentication methods immediately.

Yes, identical to what I got in April when I set up payments via EFTPS. I see no notes about finding that confusing or unexpected. I guess because I was thinking the IRS is a branch of the Treasury Dept, and all payments and refunds come from the Treasury.

EFTPS gets more complex every year is a thought I remember having. One of the few thoughts I can remember from 2 months ago.

The only issue of confusion this time around was on the screen selecting a form, which I struggled with for a while before coming up with the right way. As Churchill supposedly said, one can count on Americans to do the right thing, after trying all other alternatives first.
