1. I hope it works well enough to become a standard

I have no problem with factory production done right, with the welfare of the animals beyond physical growth or egg/milk production taken into equal account.

Chickens are pretty social birds and isolating them in egg cages where they couldn't socialize or even move is cruel. I've eaten free range eggs for years, thinking that being able to see the sun and smell fresh air an hour a day has got to be better than chicken prison.
