I'm going to be replacing it, along with the carpeting in the kitchen - yes, this kitchen is CARPETED!?!?!?! - after I get the painting done.

About that carpeted kitchen - I once dropped a dozen eggs on it. There was no cushioning effect. It was a nightmare to clean up. I inherited this house from my aunt and uncle. She had epilepsy and they figured carpeting would be more cushioning if/when she fell while having a seizure. For some reason they didn't follow through and carpet the bathrooms, too. For that I am thankful.

There's just floor boards beneath the kitchen carpeting, but the rest of the house (except for the bathrooms and laundry room) are oak or maple wood floors. I'm trying to figure out the logistics of what to do with the furniture while we rip out the carpet, and then sand and finish the floors. This house will look amazing.
