My last dog used to go into an interior bathroom and get into the dark shower behind the curtain...Initially I was concerned with leaving her there, but she self-soothed there.

A similar principle is to have one bedroom with insulated black-out curtains you can pull on all windows, some fans to provide background white noise and maybe music or tv with soothing music or sounds--even cable news on low can be helpful). Likewise some soothing scents in a diffuser like lavender or, they do sell collars that release calming scents and they work for many.
