due to the nutrition change. Maybe there is more of something she needs in it.

Also, having a cat tree gives cats a space that is all their own. Humans don't use it. Ember is happy to be petted when she is on the couch or bed with me. But when she is in the upper bed on her cat tree, she glares at me if I get close to it. She will let me give her one pet when she is there, but if I try again, she slaps my hand away. It is HER space that she goes to when she wants to be alone.

So having her own space might be improving your cat's outlook.

Funny thing is, when Ember is on the lower bed of her cat tree, petting her is ok and she even encourages it.
