If possible, when he is gone, try to focus on all the good times--YEARS of good times. I always know that if they could, my dogs would leave me with "Thanks for everything. I had a great time!" You have to get through it, but once there, you will smile when thinking about him. We still talk about the things a dog we had in the 70's used to do. We talk very regularly about our most recent lost one, left two years ago. He was so funny when he did this, how he made us laugh when he did that. I hope you get there without too much pain.
