My company invited him to come speak to us last year, and bought stacks of his books that we could have him sign for us (I know, right?). He read a few poems, told stories about growing up and how his teachers encouraged him, and stayed and signed books for everyone.

It was a lovely reception, with good food and drinks, and the kind of event that now seems in the impossibly distant past.
