But the few adults around Trump are probably thinking this will pressure 3rd parties into pressuring Tehran into making a deal. Iran will demand concessions. Probably lifting some sanctions Those 3rd parties will then pressure the US to make those concessions. Trump will probably accept to get the strait open. And the US ends this in worse shape than we started.

The fly in all this is the enriched uranium. Iran has little incentive to give it up. That will take serious concessions from the US, if that's even possible at this point. It was a non-starter on Saturday. Best we can hope for is a return to status quo with a stronger Iran and a weaker US. Plus, our credibility in the Gulf is shot to hell.
