but you don't have to. The trick at the end is to uncheck the slider at the bottom of the payment page which says "Create my PayPal account for Purchase Protection on eligible purchases."

As soon as you decline that, the "Pay now as guest" button appears.

It is garbage "dark pattern" web design IMO, but that's how you get around it.

One day I am going to come up with an alternative to PayPal. It's just that integrating a new payment system into our software will be a huge undertaking, so I just keep putting it off, because what we have now is annoying, but it does work.
